Support Rural Farming Communities

The Kimino Farm program invites you to support our efforts to revive rural farming communities in Shimoda, Shizuoka — a beach town 2.5 hours south of Tokyo. This initiative combines sustainable agriculture, cultural preservation, and meaningful connections to revitalize the region.

Cultural Significance

Shimoda is more than just a coastal surf town — it’s a community with deep-rooted farming traditions. For generations, local families have cultivated the land using traditional methods, growing fruits and vegetables that thrive in the region’s climate.

In recent years, rural farming communities across Japan have faced challenges such as population decline and land abandonment. Through the Kimino Farm program, we aim to preserve these traditions by restoring farmland, supporting local farmers, and creating opportunities for future generations to sustain these practices.

Support Rural Farming Communities

Reviving farmland isn’t just about planting trees — it’s about nurturing the ecosystem that sustains them. Our approach emphasizes sustainable methods that promote soil regeneration, protect biodiversity, and minimize environmental impact.

By implementing practices like organic composting, natural pest control, and efficient water management, we aim to restore balance to the land while producing high-quality yuzu for our drinks. These efforts not only improve the farm’s long-term productivity but also contribute to the broader goal of creating a healthier environment.

The Member Experience

As a Kimino Farm member, you are invited to experience the results of these efforts firsthand. Each November, members are welcome to visit our farm during harvest season to see the land they are helping to support.

During your visit, you can participate in hands-on experiences such as yuzu picking, learn about traditional farming methods from local farmers, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Shimoda. Beyond the farm, Shimoda offers sandy beaches, coastal walks and hot springs — a blend of nature, culture and discovery.

Our annual harvest dinner and festival provide another opportunity to connect with the community, celebrate the season’s bounty, and meet like-minded individuals who share a passion for supporting sustainable agriculture.
